The UAE's Ministry of Interior is gearing up to go live with an e-services system, IT Weekly can reveal.

The ministry's ‘Integrated eServices' project will enable people to apply for and receive visas from the General Department of Naturalisation and Residency electronically. Parts of the project are in beta testing and the whole system is expected to give live in the next month or so.

UAE turnkey solution provider Datel has been contracted to design, develop and deploy the system, and the company's vice president Prkash Ivaturi told IT Weekly this week that implementation finished in December and the solution is now being tested prior to the launch.

"There are some users that are using the system - it is already being tested with a few select clients," Ivaturi explained. "It should go live in the next month or two."

The project is similar to one Datel did for Dubai for its electronic visa service.
