Security conference Hack In The Box (HITB) will be held in Dubai during April, and will feature presentations from researchers such as Mikko Hypponen of F-Secure.

Hypponen's keynote address will look at ‘Online crime and crime online', examining the subject of criminal gangs working online.

Hypponen's work has been widely covered in the mainstream and technical media, and he has advised organisations including the FBI in the US, London's Metropolitan Police, and vendors such as IBM and Microsoft.

"I will be going behind the scenes to show who's really responsible for the network attacks, who's launching the phishing scams, who runs the botnets and who's making all the money," Hypponen said in a statement promoting the event.

This will be the second time in the region for HITB - the conference visited Bahrain in 2005. The event will include extensive technical training across four different tracks of network security issues, as well as presentations from security professionals.

HITB will also feature a ‘Capture the Flag' (CTF) competition, where teams or individuals attempt to hack into servers to retrieve certain marked files.
