The System Storage DS3000 series has been designed to offer features present in the larger, more expensive enterprise solutions, but packaged in a way that is affordable and usable by SMBs (small and medium-sized businesses).

A key feature of the DS3200 and DS3400 — both released last week — is the Storage Manager software, which comes standard on all configurations and has a six step setup.

IBM said the configuration, administration and management of the DS3000 was an important feature for SMBs that may not have access to the required expertise.

“The DS3000 Series provides an optimal solution, helping businesses to easily manage their data, while freeing up IT administrator time and allowing them to focus on top business priorities,” said Jim Gargan, vice president and business line executive at IBM.
