Double-Take Software has unveiled technology that will allow organisations to restore entire systems.

The company, which specialises in data protection solutions for Microsoft Windows applications, has incorporated the technology into its two latest product releases, Double-Take Server Recovery Option and ShadowCaster.

Both offerings, announced last week, provide businesses with whole server failover, including the operating system (OS), applications and data - even to servers with different hardware configurations.

ShadowCaster is specifically targeted at the small and medium-sized business (SMB) market with its backup support for Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server (SBS).

"The introduction of real-time replication and protection for system state is a significant advancement in making it easy for customers to recover critical systems," said Bob Roudebush, director of solutions engineering at Double-Take.
