Emirates Airline upgrades flight management system

Emirates has implemented a flight schedule management solution from Sabre to improve system functionality.

In an extension of the companies' existing relationship, Emirates has replaced its PC AirFlite product, also from specialist software and service provider Sabre, with the new flight schedule planning and management solution.

The solution supports the entire flight scheduling activity of an airline, from strategic planning through to the construction of a seasonal schedule and short-term tactical schedule adjustments.

Azhar Kapadwanjwala, vice president of schedule planning and optimisation at Emirates, said the carrier liked PC AirFlite but decided to upgrade because it needed greater functionality.

The new system "has the performance and ease-of-use of PC AirFlite, but the enhanced features will make our business more efficient and profitable," he said.
