University looks to Horizon
The Abu Dhabi branch of Paris Sorbonne University is implementing a library management solution.
Arabian Advanced System’s Horizon solution is being installed to give staff and visitors more flexibility in accessing information and to support the expansion of the university’s library.
The university, which opened in October last year, said it planned to expand the library’s 8,000 titles to around 50,000 by 2010 — a rate of 15,000 a year.
Mohammed Husamaddin, manager of Arabian Advanced Systems in Dubai, said the Horizon system matched all specifications required in the library world and also supported the Arabic language.
Guillaume Niziers, manager of the university, said the plan was to construct a top class referential library of French literature in the fields of arts, fine arts, human and social sciences, with the facility to add books in other languages and for users to reference those books.
