At the E3 Conference on Sunday, Microsoft revealed the next generation console by revealing the codename, Project Scarlett.

The actual machine whill be released will be released next year in the winter 2020 with Halo Infinite as the launch title.

With a promise to deliver and “set a new bar for console power, speed and performance”, Xbox's new console will be powered by AMD's new Zen 2 processing chip which Microsoft say is four times more powerful than the Xbox One and Radeon's RDNA graphics architecture. AMD is supplying the tech for the custom console hardware for Xbox One and interestingly for Playstation 4 as well which hasn't officially been seen yet but we'll catch a glimpse of the news towards the end of the year.

Project Scarlett will apparently support for real time hardware accelerated ray tracing which we've seen with Nvidia's RTX chipset on PC's. The console will be utilizing high GDDR6 memory and could finally see consoles break the 4K 120 fps barrier.
