The Mall of the Emirates is now offering wireless internet access, thanks to a deal with Etisalat under which the operator has installed a series of WiFi hotspots, called iZones, in its coffee shops, cafes, restaurants and common areas.

“Retail establishments have been a major driver of WiFi globally and in the UAE as well and this rollout reflects the continued focus of Etisalat to work with leading retail entities throughout the UAE to enhance visitor footfall and convenience through access to iZone WiFi hotspots,” stated Abdulla Hashim, enterprise solutions vice president of marketing at Etisalat.

Up-market hotels in the UAE are also embracing wireless technology. Abu Dhabi-based Mafraq Hotel recently installed high-speed wireless internet connectivity throughout its premises, including by the pool area.
