The Dubai Computer Group (DCG), has said it plans to host a two-day business leadership summit to be held on 29th and 30th September 2018 for its members.

Dubbed "Business Leadership Conclave: Make It Happen, Make It Matter", the initiative is aimed at providing training to business owners, CEOs, and sales staff from reseller companies that are members of the DCG.

According to the local IT trade body, which is also a member of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the association has continued to build capability within the IT industry and has organised a two-day workshop to address the soft skills training needs of its members.

The DCG stated that the first two-day workshop has been sponsored by platinum sponsor Toshiba and gold sponsors AOC, ASBIS Middle East, Supermicro and XFX.

Dharmendra Sawlani, president, DCG, said: "This is one of our biggest training events organised to date with top notch industry speakers and we are hoping it is the first of many more to follow for our members."

Sawlani added that workshops like the upcoming ones will help the local channel to begin to change their business paradigms and hopefully help the industry thrive in an era of several macro-economic and industry shifts.

Sawlani explained that the event has been put together to help business owners and their frontline sales staff overcome the challenges facing the industry by re-framing their organisational outlook and  business approach with the help and training of industry experts Simerjeet Singh and Reg Athwal. "We have decided to invest in skills training as a way of contributing and assisting our members to embrace change and evolve their businesses or risk being left behind," he said. "As it is common knowledge that most IT reseller businesses operating from Bur Dubai are family run businesses, we have arranged these two training sessions to help them on this transformation journey that's happening in our industry today."

Sawlani pointed out that 60 business owners/CEOs from the local channel have confirmed attendance of the session that is solely focused on helping them to evolve their businesses if they are to stay relevant in the IT reselling business.

"Our guest speaker Singh is a professional presenter with high command over sales motivation techniques, leadership excellence, adaptability, achieving the highest potential and bouncing back after setbacks," he said.

Sawlani added that Singh, a seasoned marketing specialist will be conducting an interactive workshop for 300 customer facing employees of DCG member companies to help them boost their sales techniques, improve skills and business communication, and build confidence.

He added that Athwal's session will focus on helping business owners, CEOs, general managers and other senior management executives on key thought leadership issues. "Reg will be conducting a full day workshop for a select group of 60-member company owners and CEOs," Sawlani said. "Reg is a strategic advisor to some of the world's most influential CEOs and a renowned professional speaker."

Sawlani pointed out that Athwal's management workshop aims to impart skills of building alliances and networks, expanding boundaries in business, fine-tuning entrepreneurial legacy and next generation business leadership development.

He explained that through the first training initiative, the DCG is hoping to engage with a lot more industry stakeholders and looking forward to working together with the vendor and distributor community to help in elevating the skills (both soft and technical) levels in the local channel.
