droidcon brings Android developers together in Dubai Droidcon 2018 attracted around 300 Android enthusiasts.

The third edition of droidcon Dubai was held this weekend, attracting over 300 Android developers and enthusiasts.

The developer conference was hosted by in5, an enabling platform for students, start-ups and entrepreneurs, which is part of DIC.

The two-day event drew the participation of speakers from leading local and international brands, including Google, Careem, Namshi, Shopify, Skyscanner, and Trivago. The event included talks and workshops around core development, embedded solutions, business solutions, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and mobile security.

Ammar Al Malik, Executive Director of Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource City, said: "At in5 Tech, we have a vibrant group of passionate entrepreneurs and innovators who benefit from these consistent engagements with industry leaders and prominent specialists that are also located in Dubai Internet City. Presenting the keynote speech, Dr Aygul Zagidullina, Google Women Techmakers (WTM) lead for London, said: "We currently have over two billion Android users. Given the high uptake, we are looking to adopt an inclusive app development approach for the next billion users, the majority of these are predicted to be located in emerging markets such as India, Indonesia and Brazil.

The UK-based expert, who is also the Google Developers Group (GDG) lead for London, provided insights into the emerging market trends for the local developer community.

Speaking on her participation of the event, she said: "It has been an enriching experience to be part of droidcon Dubai. The event is one of the best community-driven conferences of its kind, and it was an honour to interact with so many talented regional developers."
