Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior has added a feature to its app so that people can report violations of their privacy online.

The Kolonna Amn ("We are all security") app now allows users to lodge an official complaint if they feel their privacy has been violated on social media or through digital channels.

The feature is intended to support privacy and help prevent the problem of malicious spreading of images or other content on social and mobile platforms.

Breaching the privacy of other people in Saudi Arabia carries penalties of up to one year's imprisonment or a fine of SR500,000 ($133,000).
