Al Tayyar Group's online travel agency brands Tajawul and Almosafer have grown net sales threefold from a 2016 high of $115 million, according to the Group's online business unit head, Muhammad Chbib.

"The year isn't over yet so I can't give you full figures, but so this is the story so far," Chbib said during an interview with Arabian Business.

Both platforms form part of travel giant Al Tayyar Group's online business unit and are in their second year of operations.

"Our technology platform is superior to anything I've seen in the Middle East," he said. "We also have a very strong branding focus that communicates the benefit of our brands to consumers, which taps into the very big need for such a service in the region."

The brands have succeeded because of their focus on creating something "for the region from the region," he said. "And now everything that doesn't go to booking.com goes to us."

Almosafer focuses on getting travellers from origin to destination, whereas Tajawal focuses on adventures and destinations. The Group will officially position Tajawal as a distinct brand within the group in the first half of 2018, according to Chbib, adding that there is room for more brands in the Group's business.

"Both offer a lot of untapped opportunities and that's why having two brands makes sense. There will be even more in the future I think," he said.
