The Iranian startup CommentMiner has seen interest from a global pool of potential investors following its exhibition GITEX Future Stars as part of GITEX Technology Week 2017.

"GITEX is our second exhibition experience, we had our first at ELECOMP in Iran, where we won third place in a start-up competition, which gave us the opportunity to exhibit here at GITEX," says Sajad Khatiri, co-founder and chief technology officer, CommentMiner. "It's a great opportunity because we can network with an international pool of potential investors and customers."

The platform is a set of web services that are based on text mining and artificial intelligence that moderates and analyses user generated content for online businesses or companies with an online platform, such as through social media.

"Many companies use actual employees for these purposes, but it's extremely costly and slow. We on the other hand provide real-time feedback," explains Khatiri. "We're also working on a new service called chatbot, an intelligent chatbot that can learn conversations between the software operators and customers so that 80% of questions that are similar in nature can be automated on the CRM."

The idea for the company is based on the co-founder's thesis on filtering obscene language in Persian, but Khatiri says that in doing the research for that, he realised that there is a gap in the market for the automation of many of these processes. "We launched six months ago and we're now acquiring many local customers in Iran," he adds.
