Redline Communications is leveraging its presence at GITEX Technology Week to highlight its smart city, public safety and digital oilfield concepts.

"We are reiterating our message and also the solutions in these three categories," says Guruprasad Padmanabhan, VP, MEA at Redline Communications. He adds that in the smart city space, Redline has always been enabling its customers in bridging the digital divide by enabling connectivity where fibre doesn't exist, is too expensive to extend or is very time-consuming. The company also specialises in extending connectivity to remote areas. "What we see is that there are many instances in which fibre is not very practical or quick enough whereas the need to connect people is bigger today than it's ever been" he says.

The other big area of focus for Redline Communications is public safety. Padmanabhan says: "Public safety has become a huge focus area for every smart government. UAE is at the forefront in this space. We are working with several public safety, and civil defence organisations to expand our technologies into this area. We have a technology called the MacroCell LTE which allows public agencies to extend their private LTE which is easier, simpler and faster to deploy and at the same time, delivers the same functionality of a full-fledged LTE installation for a fraction of the cost."

Padmanabhan believes that Redline brings value to smart city space through the way it enables technologies. "With our three main technologies- Virtual Fibre, traditional microwave and LTE, we position ourselves as a one-stop-shop for customers.

"Moreover, we have always built products for our customers rather than building a product and then finding the customers. So we offer customisation as a unique differentiator."

The company is already working with several government agencies as well as a part of a technology consortium.
