ServiceNow have launched a new software asset management solution designed to help enterprises better manage complex compliance issues associated with licensed software contracts.

The accessible platform allows users to allocate and reclaim software licenses to address non-compliance, while also easing the arduous process of vendor audits. The solution is also able to identify software waste that is draining the organisation's budget.

Commenting on the new launch, Karel van der Poel, vice president and general manager, ServiceNow, said: "As software drives greater innovation across the enterprise, it also demands more strategic oversight and powerful levers to optimise its use.

"With ServiceNow Software Asset Management, CIOs have the means to master the management of software licensing and proactively support the business. They can make vendor audits painless and under reporting of software use a thing of the past."

Features of the new platform also include the ability to automate software license spend that will allow organisations to oversee the software request and allocation process. Additionally, users will benefit from improved real-time view of their licensed software.

The latter includes ensuring the software usage is accurate and nominal, identifying license-relevant product counts, as well as being able to leverage the ServiceNow configuration management database (CMDB) and pre-built Discovery Maps automatically to relate software entitlements to the correct software installations.
