Facebook may become a whole lot more colourful as it prepares to test gradient-style coloured comments.

The idea is that users will be able to select customisable coloured backgrounds for their comments, however this is in its testing phase as only ‘a small fraction' of mobile users can see the feature.

In December 2016, Facebook added colourful status updates for its Android, iOS and web users, and now this new test appears to be extending it to the comment section.

Despite being in its trial phase, those who have noticed the update are not happy. Twitter user Evert Groot and TNW's director of social media, Matt Navarra, were not impressed.

However, like may trial and error tests, Facebook is testing the waters and the update may not reach its two billion subscribers.

In a statement to TNW, Facebook said: "We're always exploring new ways for people to connect and have conversations, so we are testing new features on comments."
