Emirates airline has been ranked the UAE's healthiest brand with the highest index score, according to market research company YouGov's global daily brand tracker, BrandIndex, which surveyed consumer opinion about brands across 30 countries.

The home-grown international airline was followed by messaging app WhatsApp, search engine Google, supermarket giant Carrefour and social platforms Facebook and YouTube respectively.

Tech firm Apple and its best-selling product Apple iPhone came in at numbers seven and eight while Samsung and dairy producer Almarai came in at numbers nine and ten in that order.

Scott Booth, YouGov's head of data products in MENA, said, "The UAE is among the savviest markets in the world when it comes to mobile and online technology, so it is no surprise to see Google, Facebook, Apple, Samsung and related brands reach the top 10 list for Brand Health. On the other hand, we can see that Emirates, Carrefour and Almarai, long dominant in their respective sectors, have achieved levels of differentiation, ubiquity and consumer perception that set them apart from their direct competition."

YouGov also released a list of brands with the most improved brand health in the UAE over the past year, in which Apple iPhone witnessed the biggest improvement among consumers, followed by multi-activity destination Global Village and tech house Huawei.

These were followed by urban living development City Walk, photo sharing app Instagram and food and beverage brands Schweppes and Barbican.

Financial brand Visa came in at number eight while F&B brand Pizza Hut came in at number nine, just before City Walk developer Meraas Holdings.

As for the global list, Google was ranked number one as the world's healthiest brand. Sister company YouTube and social platform Facebook came in at number two and three respectively.

Other brands included Samsung, WhatsApp, Apple iPhone, Amazon, Toyota, Adidas and Colgate.

YouGov BrandIndex operates in 32 countries across the globe, covering markets in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australasia. YouGov used the Index score for the list which assesses overall brand health. It takes into account perceptions of a brand's quality, value, impression, satisfaction, reputation and whether consumers would recommend the brand to others.
