What are the challenges facing modern network security?

Security conscious organisations need round-the-clock support to maximise the value of their security infrastructure and combat current breed of stealthy threats. The modern-day adversary is creative, nimble and persistent and can range from hacktivists to advanced persistent threats (APTs), determined to extract vital information or carry out destructive attacks.

How can FireEye help?

FireEye is an intelligence-led security company. FireEye offers a single platform that blends latest security technologies, threat intelligence, and Mandiant consulting. With this approach, FireEye eliminates the complexity and burden of cyber security for organisations struggling to prepare for, prevent, and respond to cyber-attacks.

What are some of the trends impacting the regional security sector?

According to Markets & Markets, the Middle East cyber security market size is expected to grow from USD 11 billion in 2017 to USD 22 billion by 2022, at an estimated compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14%. Organisations are rapidly adopting the latest technologies to fulfil their IT transformation initiatives. These technologies include IoT, hybrid cloud, enterprise mobility services, data centres and more.

While technology plays an instrumental role in increasing efficiencies, streamlining operations, and transforming organisations and cities, cybersecurity must not be an afterthought. For organisations to successfully achieve business goals and benefit from using the technology, a strong cyber security foundation must be in place, and we are seeing a significant increase in the demand for cyber security solutions and expertise in the region.

Discuss the latest solutions from your company and the impact you see in the market?

Recently, FireEye announced the launch of its latest solution, FireEye Helix, a platform to simplify, integrate, and automate security operations for organisations of all sizes and industries. This intelligence-led platform unifies network, endpoint and third-party product visibility with FireEye iSIGHT Intelligence and Mandiant expertise. Helix is designed to reduce the time, effort and cost associated with managing low quality or false alerts from traditional security offerings like next generation firewalls, endpoint, and intrusion prevention systems.

Furthermore, FireEye Endpoint Security delivers advanced detection and prevention capabilities to help respond to threats that can bypass traditional endpoint defences. With the addition of anti-virus and malware detection capabilities for known threats, along with endpoint detection and response (EDR) capabilities, analysts can now rely on a single endpoint agent for expanded visibility to quickly determine the exact scope and level of attack activities related to both known and unknown threats. With detailed context on blocked and unknown threats, analysts can adapt defences to all cyber-attacks. In addition, FireEye has recently announced the new cloud and virtual form factors for its Endpoint Security solution. It is designed to enable customers and partners additional flexibility for deployment and lower cost as they move to the cloud.

Describe some of your biggest successes in the region

When the destructive Shamoon attacks hit several months ago, the first call many organisations made was to FireEye’s Mandiant team. This is a testimony to our expertise in the region and our knowledge of the targeted threats facing Middle East organisations, in addition to a vote of confidence in our Mandiant team.

We are fortunate to have a strong presence across the Middle East and hope to capitalise on these opportunities to further consolidate our foothold and strengthen our position.

Organisations across various industries trust FireEye to secure their critical infrastructure and valuable assets, protect intellectual property and avoid damage to reputation, costly fixes and downtime.
