Micromax cements product array in MENA Micromax Informatics says it's planning to capture a bigger market share.

Mobile devices maker Micromax Informatics Ltd has launched Canvas 2, move the company said is aimed at strengthening its product portfolio in the region.

According to the vendor, Canvas 2 is the first smartphone in its price segment to come equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The company also said it's planning to capture a bigger market share, aiming to be among the top five mobile players in the region, over the next two years.

Vikas Jain, co-founder, Micromax Informatics said: "MENA is an important market for Micromax and the region is expected to contribute a large chunk to our international market revenue in the next two years. We have a significant presence in most of the operational international markets and now our focus is on extending the brand's reach in the MENA market."

Jain said backed since the launch in mid-February 2017, the company's products are already available through local distribution in eight countries and would soon be expanding in other North African markets inluding Egypt. "We believe we are well prepared with the portfolio of products and that the products bring consumer expectations to life," he said.

Sandeep Saihgal of tChannel, said: "We are very excited to have this opportunity of working with Micromax and believe that the UAE and the rest of the region is an ideal market for Micromax to bring its innovative product portfolio and services customised for consumers in this market."

Saihgal added that the company is working to build a very strong and deeply penetrated distribution network in the region that will help capture a significant share in the market. "tChannel brings years of professional experience to this partnership and will allow for a quick scalability of Micromax distribution in the region"

John Bayne, vice president and general manager, Corning Gorilla Glass, added that: "We are pleased to work with Micromax to bring the superior drop performance of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to their customers in United Arab Emirates. Corning Gorilla Glass 5, our best cover glass yet, improves drop performance far outperforming competitive glass designs."

Bayne said the company is thrilled that Micromax has incorporated the most advanced Gorilla Glass into its flagship Canvas device to give its mid-segment customers an unrivalled performance.
