At the Honeywell Oil & Gas Technologies Symposium, held on the 15 May, 2017, Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) and cloud-based solutions were highlighted as key factors for the future development of Egypt's oil and gas sector.

Held at the JW Marriott Cairo, the event drew a host of VIP guests, which included government representatives, partners, stakeholders, and consultants, who gathered to engage with Honeywell's oil & gas sector experts and explore the latest connected technologies.

HE Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources conducted the welcome speech at the opening of the event.

Khaled Hashem, president, Honeywell Egypt said: "Egypt is one of the most dynamic economies in the region, and the oil and gas sector is critical for its continued development and growth. Honeywell has been operating in Egypt for more than 30 years and during that time, we have worked on some of the most significant energy and infrastructure projects to date in the country."

He added: "We remain committed to supporting the growth ambitions of Egypt's economy and delivering technology that helps its industry extract maximum value from its oil and gas reserves. Our connected technologies will help Egypt create more value from its hydrocarbons and we look forward to continuing our work with industry leaders."

The event highlighted Honeywell's Connected Plant offerings, which boasts reduced downtime, increased efficiency, as well as enhanced safety and security. Additionally, the technology includes physical and cloud-based solutions that monitors and improves plant performance.

Evangelos Alepochoritis, sales director for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Honeywell Process Solutions, said: "We see a lot of opportunity to expand our presence in Egypt given the huge potential of this country, and we intend to continue our support to the Egyptian oil and gas sector through research, training and innovative product development.

"In particular, we continue to focus on expanding our IIoT and Honeywell Connected Plant offerings to help improve the productivity and efficiency of Egypt's existing oil and gas infrastructure, leveraging decades of our experience in the sector," he concluded.

Following the successful event in Cairo, Honeywell is set to host the Oil & Gas Technologies Symposium in Alexandria on the 17th May, 2017, at the Four Seasons.
