What is your current role in the ICT industry in the Middle East and what are your responsibilities?

I joined Credence Security in 2013 as Managing Director. In this role, I am responsible for business strategy development, human capital acquisition and development, customer acquisition and business operations in addition to partner engagements. A typical day involves a meeting with my local management team to ensure they are empowered to meet their objectives and targets for the day.  This is followed by a conference call with my counterpart in South Africa to discuss open business opportunities. I also try to ensure that I attend at least a couple of customer site meetings to maintain a close understanding of their needs and expectations and demonstrate our company’s commitment as a Cyber Security partner.

What is the best thing about your job?

Having the opportunity to build the business in the region and grow the team is one of the things I am most proud of and enjoy the most.

How innovative do you think the network industry in the Middle East is and how can it improve?

Organisations in the region are definitely showing an appetite for technologies like enterprise mobility, cloud, IOT and digital transformation. That being said, in my opinion, I don’t think organisations have a full appreciation and understanding of the vital role that the network plays in the secure and optimised delivery of these solutions.

What are the upcoming trends or products in your sector?

With cybersecurity now front and centre, we are seeing the government implement compulsory policies and compliance frameworks. Also, with the shortage of cybersecurity talent in the region, we are seeing several organisations invest in user awareness training. As a result, we are seeing a demand for solutions from niche vendors like Rsam that offer GRC solutions and Popcorn Training that offer user awareness training.

Does your company utilise virtualisation or cloud computing and if so what products/ implementations do you have?

Most of our vendor partners have embraced Cloud, services which we extend to our customers. Across our platform, we can now offer, among others, intrusion prevention solution delivered from the cloud, as well as Managed Detection and Response from cloud sources.

What are your out-of-office hobbies?

Given the stress of the job, I also make it a point to leave Dubai and travel when possible for long weekends.
