A drug dealer from Pakistan has been arrested for pushing the sales of drugs on WhatsApp and social media platforms to UAE mobile users.

The UAE Ministry of Interior confirmed the arrest, according to WAM.

Upon the arrest, the trafficker was identified as Irfan K who confessed to such activities and who his accomplices were and how they managed to bypass secure systems.

"The drug trafficker was promoting the sale of narcotics and promised to deliver them in return for a bank money transfer," said WAM, which quoted the ministry.

Last month, the Ministry of Interior warned UAE residents to ignore fraudulent messages on WhatsApp and social media platforms.

Colonel Saeed Al Suwaidi, director general of Anti-Narcotics Federal Directorate at the Ministry requests that the public should call 80044 to report any suspicious activity.
