du has rolled out its Wi-Fi UAE service in Ras Al Khaimah, with two malls Al Naeem Mall & Al Naeem City Centre being the first to be connected.

From this month, mall visitors have access to the wireless service through two options: the free but restricted WiFi UAE and the Wi-Fi UAE Premium paid service that allows users unrestricted upload and download speed.

To avail the free public Wi-Fi, users can log on to the service using any UAE mobile number and choose between the two options.

Jihad Tayara, vice president business development and partnerships, du said: “We are pleased to spread happiness through innovation and connectivity throughout the UAE by rolling out free Wi-Fi access for all – regardless of their mobile service provider. Today’s rollout marks an important step in our quest to support the UAE government in achieving country-wide Wi-Fi access in line with Vision 2021.”

du says the service hit 1.3 million sessions in October of last year. The telco expects to enable WiFi connectivity through more than 450 locations by the end of the year.

du has introduced WiFi UAE in a number of high footfall areas including RTA serviced areas such as the Dubai Metro and Tram, malls, Emaar Boulevard Downtown Dubai and Global Village, to name a few. The service provides fast and free access to all government websites and apps.
