Gemalto and IER partner to deliver authentication solution to airports
Fly to Gate will serve as a biometric authentication platform that covers everything from check-in to boarding.
Gemalto, a digital security provider, and IER, a designer of technologies aimed at improving flow of goods and people, have entered into a partnership aimed at introducing an end-to-end self-service technology for travellers.
Dubbed Fly to Gate, the new platform will serve as a secure biometric authentication from check-in to boarding. The platform combines both IER’s self-service equipment and services, along with Gemalto’s border management solution.
Maxime Boulvain, CEO at IER said: “For airports and airlines alike, the opportunities created by strong growth in passenger numbers go hand in hand with the challenges of more stringent border and security checks.
“This new partnership between IER and Gemalto squares the circle, utilising world-class automation techniques to improve customer satisfaction, implement consistent identity and document verification procedures, and maximise commercial revenues.”
Fly to Gate is also equipped with a number of multimodal biometric verification technologies. These include facial recognition, document verification and integration with immigration systems. Giving end-users a choice of mobile check-in or self-service kiosk, Fly to Gate also covers bag drop points, border control, security and boarding gates.
Frédéric Trojani, executive vice-president of Government at Gemalto said: “The appetite for automated, self-service travel experiences is already evident in the success of electronic travel authorisation, online check-in and automated border eGates.
“For the first time, Fly to Gate offers a chance to reap the full benefits of this trend, working with leading partners whose solutions have been proven in numerous deployments.”
