UAE’s du sheds ‘tens’ of jobs in company restructure
CEO Osman Sultan announces job cuts as part of company streamlining
The UAE's telecom company du has announced as part of a company restructure it has shed ‘tens' of jobs.
The restructure began in April last year, du CEO Osman Sultan told Reuters.
He also added: "Streamlining an organisation means that you find pockets of efficiency and some positions have been made redundant ... I triggered this process in April/May last year."
In other news, Sultan further announced that Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co (EITC), the holding company for du, will launch Virgin Mobile in the region.
EITC has formed a new business unit to handle all of the "market facing activities" of the Virgin Mobile brand in the UAE, which will use the same mobile network infrastructure as du.
