Value-added distributor (VAD Redington Value Distribution and Huawei, have announced a collaboration in the IT space with the objective of developing smart, futuristic solutions together.

According to the two companies, the partnership is focused on collaboration with Huawei's cloud offerings and Internet of things (IoT).

Ramkumar Balakrishnan, president, Redington Value Distribution, said that: "Huawei is not only one of the leading providers of information and communication technology but is also steadily changing the landscape in emerging technologies such as cloud computing and internet of things."

Balakrishnan added that Huawei and Redington Value have a common ideology in terms of how digitalisation is transforming the IT industry and how different industry verticals can use disruptive IoT technology to their advantage and increase productivity.

"The partnership is focused on collaboration with Huawei's cloud offerings and internet of things. We will also leverage the company's Red Vault to host leading Huawei technologies for the benefit of industry specialists while engaging jointly on smart city projects," he said. "Additionally, we look towards our other key initiatives such as the Red Cloud and our consultancy arm - Citrus Consulting to provide impetus to our strategy this year."

Alaa Elshimy, managing director and vice president, Huawei Enterprise Business, Middle East, said: "Huawei is very excited to join hands with Redington Value, a top IT player in the region. Redington Value shares our vision of how the IT landscape is evolving and has introduced several key initiatives such as the Red Vault Solutions Centre and Citrus Consulting - its very own consultancy arm for disruptive technologies.

Elshimy added that Huawei is looking to combine Redington Value's expertise with its own to come out with smart innovative solutions applicable to all industry verticals.
