Shopping to get smarter, says aswaaq
aswaaq was one of the first retailers in the Middle East to partner with Philips to implement a smart lighting system.
According to a recent regional study produced by On Device Research, 90% of shoppers in the UAE rely on their smartphones for shopping.
Taking advantage of this dynamic, aswaaq, a UAE-based supermarket and community mall chain, has become one of the first retailers in the Middle East to partner with Philips. The two companies are collaborating to create an exclusive smartphone app to aid shoppers in completing their purchases faster.

Utilising visible light communication (VLC), aswaaq's has deployed Philips' smart lighting to its Al Bada's supermarket. The new system utilises LED fixtures, which are detect by smart phones, which aids in customs in locating their desired product.
