The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will define Dubai’s smart roads at GITEX Technology Week.
The partnership between Huawei and RTA is based on a mutual collaboration to develop a strategic roadmap for innovative and transformative services.
Abdulla Al Madani, CEO of Corporate Technology Support Services Sector at RTA, says: In order for a city to become smart, collaboration is the most important part. Therefore signing partnerships with companies like Huawei and collaborating together for smart city applications, will ultimately bring better experiences to our customers and the city. Huawei has many research centres and they do a lot of R&D, especially in the areas of smart cities. Therefore we have selected them be one of our partners and we believe this partnership will bring new ideas and new ways of doing things better.”
Alaa El Shimy, managing director at Huawei Enterprise, Middle East, adds: “We look forward to being able to implement best of class technological practices that can support the RTA with smart roads and public transport initiatives with its Big Data and IoT analytics platforms.
“We will work together to create varied solutions to meet the Smart Dubai objectives, these include smart parking, which will help residents find the nearest avialale space, smart traffic systems and even smart robots that can detect cracks in the road,” explains El Shimy.
