Equinix calls for MENA IT strategy rethink
Schlosser: "In particular in the MENA region, a ‘digital-first' approach is forcing IT to broadly transform. Businesses require a re-architecture of the IT platform to react in real time and securely connect employees, partners and customers in a digital ecosystem."

The radical transformation driven by the digital economy needs Middle East companies to re-invent the way they employ and deploy IT strategies across their organisations, says Equinix's regional head.

"In particular in the MENA region, a ‘digital-first' approach is forcing IT to broadly transform. Businesses require a re-architecture of the IT platform to react in real time and securely connect employees, partners and customers in a digital ecosystem," says Jeroen Schlosser, Managing Director, Equinix MENA

US-based Equinix, one of the world's largest data center and interconnection companies by market share, has over 30 cloud service providers in its Dubai data center.  At GITEX Technology Week this year, the company is showcasing its proprietary Interconnection Oriented Architecture.

The platform is the company's solution toward unifying people across locations and simplifying their migration to the cloud.

"We propose that topology, technology and design all favor building a digital business solution using colocation-based, programmable networking, which we will call ‘data center interconnect fabric,' allowing dynamic interconnection between enterprise peers, cloud providers, communications providers and a growing marketplace of service providers," says Schlosser.

"Through the assistance of an Interconnection Oriented Architecture - an innovative approach connecting people, locations, Equinix can make this reinvention possible."
