Gulf Air to enhance internal communications with Skype Partnership with Microsoft will allow Gulf Air staff to enhance productivity by being completely mobile.

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced the rollout of a company-wide project to deploy Skype for Business across its world-wide offices.

The move aims to enhance internal communication, productivity and efficiency and reduce communication costs while affording the airline’s workforce access to a more convenient and cost-effective communication solution, Gulf Air said.

The new solution enhances remote-participation capabilities, leverages all-new mobility features in Windows 10 and Office suite and streamlines Gulf Air workforce collaboration, both nationally and globally, enabling instant data access that will help effective delivery of quality services to customers.

With the Skype for Business project, Gulf Air also addressed its ongoing requirement for a comprehensive solution to address mobile computing needs and increase overall productivity, while slashing the company’s technology and communication costs.

Dr. Jassim Haji, director, information technology, Gulf Air, said: “As a company with international offices, we have a great need for a convenient and cost-effective communication tool that our executive teams and staff can use to make calls, hold meetings and video conferences, and also interview new candidates, without leaving their offices. Skype for Business allows us to streamline our services with enhanced mobility and collaboration between our staff worldwide. Moreover, in the future this will allow our front-liners to get closer to our customers through a rich choice of communication channels, anywhere and at any time.”

The deployment of Skype for Business is intended to facilitate the business collaboration between Gulf Air’s headquarters in Bahrain and its outstation international offices, saving time and cost while optimizing productivity.

Formerly known as Microsoft Lync, Skype for Business, allows teams to connect with one another from anywhere using mobile apps tailored for Windows, iOS and Android. Remote attendees can participate in meetings with Skype for Business Room Systems and Surface Hub. Skype for Business also supports collaborative team sessions, broadcasts or dialling into a conference using a phone.
