The Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation (MBRCGI) and Edraak have hosted an online course on government which has attracted over 50,000 participants.

The Innovations in Government course, which includes plans for the future of government, was hosted on the Edraak electronic platform as a massive online open course (MOOC), in Arabic. Over 50,000 participants from around the world accessed the four-hour long course, which covers key concepts and tools for government innovation.

The course was developed by MBRCGI and the Queen Rania Foundation (QRF), which also created the Edraak platform.

Her Excellency Huda Al Hashimi, Assistant Director General for Strategy and Innovation at the Prime Minister's Office, said: "The vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, pertaining to leadership and innovation in government work have become a reference and guide to institutions the world over. The course constitutes an opportunity to exchange expertise with all stakeholders and to entice them to play a part in improving government work around the world.

"The impressive turnout at the Innovations in Government course reflects the growing international interest in placing innovation at the core of government work. Innovation is now a necessity for governments to plan for the future and make citizens happy."

HE Al Hashimi added that the course is intended to enrich the skills of participants, and help to spread the principles of government innovation in the Arab World, in line with MBRCGI's goal of establishing a culture of innovation.

The Innovations in Government course includes key concepts of innovation for government, a breakdown of the government innovation framework put together by the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation, as well as international success stories in the field of government innovation. Participants who complete the required hours can received a certificate of completion from Edraak.

As a MOOC, the course is open to any person, through open registration, and users can take the course at their own speed. The course is permanently available on Edraak.

The course will be available permanently on the platform, allowing innovation enthusiasts in the Arab world to benefit from its content and earn a certificate upon completing it in four weeks - following individual examinations.
