Bank Sohar has upgraded its IT infrastructure with cloud and mobile solutions from IBM.

The bank, one of the leading financial institutions in Oman, has overhauled its IT infrastructure to improve client service capabilities.

The IT upgrade included a special focus on a flexible development platform for developing and managing mobile applications. By using IBM MobileFirst and IBM Cloud, the bank was able to acquire one platform for all mobile apps that could provide advanced mobile services and an improved customer experience.

The MobileFirst Platform gave Bank Sohar a single platform for all its mobile apps, while making developers' jobs easier. The Bank now is able to manage all versions of its apps in one location, and get insights into app usage and performance, troubleshoot problems, update and secure them from device to server.

"By choosing this platform on IBM Cloud, Bank Sohar was able to streamline its IT environment and gain flexibility in using its infrastructure to become an engine of innovation," said Amr Refaat, general manager, IBM Middle East and Pakistan. "IBM's solution has fast-tracked the integration development process, improved the developer experience and enhanced functional capabilities around APIs, mobile and the cloud."

"At Bank Sohar, we are dedicated to delivering customer excellence across all touch points of our operations. The IBM solution will streamline the Bank's IT infrastructure and significantly improve efficiency and time-to-market when launching new products, particularly for mobile-applications. This will also result in the reduction of time and effort to integrate new core banking applications," said Mujahid Said Al Zadjali, deputy general manager, IT and Alternate Channels, Bank Sohar.
