Oman ITA briefs govt IT staff on shared architecture tools
ITA holds awareness session to promote eGovernance framework and tools to government IT staff
The Oman Information Technology Authority (ITA) has hosted an awareness session to brief government IT personnel on eGovernance frameworks and standards.
The two-day briefing, for staff from all ministries, discussed the ‘Oman eGovernment Architecture Framework (OeGAF)' and Enterprise Architecture tool (eKIT - ‘eGovernment Knowledge and Information Analysis Tool').
The session was held to help IT professionals to improve the efficiency of e-services delivery and to understand how to utilise the eKIT to update agency data and to understand agency-specific Enterprise Architecture compliance to OeGAF.
The ‘Oman eGovernment Architecture Framework (OeGAF)' developed by ITA, is a comprehensive framework for successful development and execution of e.oman strategy. OeGAF provides a holistic approach for establishing whole-of-government enterprise architecture to achieve effectiveness, efficiency, agility and resilience. This awareness session is the next step towards these goals so that the key stakeholders from government agencies can get awareness and can make use of OeGAF to drive value for business.
At the first day session, the Governance and Advisory team introduced the Oman eGovernment Architecture Framework (OeGAF), including overview and background of OeGAF, Business Reference Model (BRM), Solution Reference Model (SRM), Information Reference Model (IRM), and Technical Reference Model (TRM).
During the second session, Atoll Technologies, from Hungary, discussed the importance of eKIT project along with identifying the benefits of having agency specific architecture, and highlighted the features and functionality of eKIT.
The ITA plans to hold several engagement sessions later in the year, including another two-day session with Atoll Technologies on OeGAF and eKIT.
