Huawei's Eric Dai discusses Champion of the Year competition and its importance
Eric Dai, enterprise delivery & service director at Huawei, shares details on the Champion of the Year competition and its value as a platforms for the industry's technical engineers.
ACN: How do you think this competition is important for technical engineers from your experience in this field?
Eric Dai: Technical engineers are the core and backbone of the industry. I personally feel, they deserve credit and acknowledgement. This tournament will be a platform to reward outstanding talent in our industry within the UAE region and is a testament to how this country is nurturing technological expertise.
ACN: Do you think the technical department forms the foundation of a company?
ED: Absolutely. The basis of any organisation today is technology. Huawei recognises that in today's connected world, every organisation has to keep pace with the latest technology advancements in order to secure their future. Huawei is committed to providing expanded training and certification programs and robust technical knowledge platforms that will enable our partners to deliver exceptional value to end users. .
ACN: Do you think this competition will enhance the skills of the engineers?
ED: The idea behind the competition is not only to recognise exceptional talent but also to upgrade existing skillsets. This is one of several Huawei initiatives to support the growth of the channel network.
ACN: What according to you will be the outcome of this competition?
ED: Ultimately we want our partners to be successful and identify new opportunities for growth. And we have several partner programs in place for this. Our highest level of technical certification, Huawei Certified Internetwork Expert (HCIE) program, enables channel partners to offer more confidence in service delivery to their customers and end users. Huawei Service Certificate Program (HSCP) is designed to provide consistent support experience and improve customer satisfaction in the channel. This Technical Skills Tournament aims to nurture talent and encourage the engineers to aspire to the highest levels of technical expertise that will enable them to deliver value to end users.
ACN: How will the winners be rewarded at the end of the contest?
ED: Huawei and Enterprise Systems would be flying 8 winners to the heart of Huawei in Schenzan, China. It would be an all-inclusive trip where they would get the opportunity to meet with the top management at our company. This is a unique opportunity for them to gain global recognition as well as compete for the leading title of ‘champion of the year'.
