Microsoft had initially offered its users an optional yet free upgrade to Windows 10 but then began to push automatic updates earlier this year. Now, the free upgrade will officially end on 29 July.

Microsoft has provided its latest operating system to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users as a free upgrade since this time last year, but that offer is about to end.

If users miss the free upgrade, they will be charged $119 for the Windows 10 Home license, however if users update their devices in the next day they will also receive the Anniversary update free of charge. This update is expected to launch on 2 August and will include advanced gestures, new Cortana commands and a merged version of the Windows and Xbox One app stores.
