Fortinet recently announced the acquisition of AccelOps, a provider of network security monitoring and analytics.

Set to further enhance the cyber security specialist's Security Fabric Strategy, the acquisition will incorporate a number of AccelOps advanced analytics and security intelligence capabilities.

This includes integrating AccelOps' Next Gen SIEM suite and FortiGuard Labs global threat intelligence into Fortinet's Security Fabric.

Additionally, the company's Security Operations Center (SoC) and Network Operations Center (NoC) will support Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) and Fortinet Support Services.

The latter will lead to the launch of a subscription service aptly named FortiCare 360° Support. As part of the new service, end-users will have access to automated security and performance audits, which will aid in the prevention of unplanned disruptions.

Ken Xie, founder, chairman of the board and chief executive officer, Fortinet, said: "With the acquisition of AccelOps, Fortinet extends its Security Fabric to address these challenges by combining security and compliance monitoring with advanced analytics for multi-vendor security solutions, enabling automated and actionable security intelligence from IoT to the cloud."

Prior to its acquisition, AccelOps fostered a reputable name across a number of industries that included managed service providers, enterprise, and government segments. Building upon its notable and ever-expanding total addressable market, Fortinet's entry to the SIEM market was valued at $2bn. Market intelligence firm Gartner projects that this figure will grow to $2.9bn by 2019.

Commenting on the development, Partha Bhattacharya, founder and chief technology officer, shared: "Fortinet and AccelOps share a common vision of providing holistic, actionable security intelligence across the entire IT infrastructure. Our mission has always been to help our customers make security and compliance management as effortless and effective as possible."
