Abu Dhabi Police launch kiosks for traffic services
Self-service kiosks for motorists to insure vehicles, replace licences and pay fines
The UAE Ministry of Interior and SAAED Traffic System has launched a new Smart Teller kiosk which will provide transactional traffic services to motorists.
The Smart Teller Kiosks, which are Abu Dhabi's third generation of self-payment systems launched under the Sahel scheme, will offer services such as vehicle registration renewal, fines enquiry and payments, issuing of replacement driver licences or vehicle registration certificates and services through the ‘Emirates Vehicle Gate' (EVG) to get purchase vehicle insurance.
The kiosks have been developed in association with Emirates Islamic Bank and Network Intelligent Payment Solutions (NIPS).
The Smart Teller is a secure unattended kiosk with the international standard of TSA & ADA for end-users with special needs, and is also compatible with PCI DDS Standard. It has an in-built Emirates ID reader and a QR code reader to connect between the smart app and kiosk so the customer can apply online and receive the service physically from the nearest kiosk, in addition to a signature pad, passport scanner and document scanner, enabling the kiosk to provide comprehensive services that were previously only available over the counter.
To support the needs of various nationalities, the device interface is available in four languages - Arabic, English, Urdu and Malayalam. In addition to A4 printing capability for services that require certificate issuance, the kiosk accepts credit card payment, accepts and dispenses cash payment in banknotes and coins. It also has a cheque scanner, NFC, plate number sticker printer and a drop-box for document submission.
Commenting on the launch, H.E Brigadier Engineer Hussein Al Harithi, Director General of Central Operations, Abu Dhabi Police said: "Ministry of Interior and Abu Dhabi Police have continuously considered the implementation of a strategy of automation and smart solutions, in line with the mandate of UAE smart government, in order to reduce customer visits to counters. The partnership between the UAE government sector and private sector empowers UAE government departments with cutting edge solutions such as Smart-Teller, the third generation of Sahel.
"Based on the directives of H.H. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Interior, we always keep end-users with special needs as our top priority and hence are always keen to have international standards that consider their requirements in our solutions."
The kiosks will be launched at twenty locations initially, with plans for over a hundred kiosks to be deployed by 2017. The kiosks will also offer services from other government agencies in future.
