Aptec signs as SUSE value-added distributor Open source solutions are gaining in popularity in the region, says Abi-Chahine.

Open source software company SUSE has appointed Aptec, an Ingram Micro company, as a value added distributor for the gulf region.

As a member of the SUSE Partner Solution Provider Network, Aptec will distribute SUSE's open source solutions including SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, SUSE OpenStack Cloud and SUSE Enterprise Storage.

Aptec will have a dedicated SUSE team for the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain & Oman, and will focus solutions for a zero-downtime environment.

"Signing on Aptec as a value-added distributor is an important step for us as we continue to grow our footprint and business in the Middle East," said Paul Abi-Chahine, regional director, Emerging EMEA, SUSE. "The region is showing a healthy appetite for open-source solutions and our priority is to offer a variety of best-of-breed solutions to enterprises looking to modernize and standardize their IT infrastructure, leverage cloud computing and software-based storage solutions, and make use of new technologies like big data, all while achieving zero-downtime environments for their business-critical workloads."
