Cisco has announced its participation at the Internet of Things Expo 2016, were it will showcase ‘real-life' smart city scenarios, as well as its Cisco Digital Ceiling framework.

The company will highlight various smart scenarios, including smart energy, smart transportation, smart parking retail, healthcare and remote diagnostics through video content and animated city display.

Shukri Eid, customer solutions director at Cisco, Middle East, Africa, Russia & CIS said: "Digitisation and the IoT hold enormous potential to drive new experiences, cost savings, and revenues in every enterprise and IoTX 2016 is an ideal platform for Cisco to demonstrate how IoT technologies are playing an increasingly important role in improving the quality of life today, and for future generations."

Furthermore, Cisco will discuss the key business architectures and solutions that will be important for digital transformation, such as security, cloud, data centre and analytics, mobility, application centric infrastructure and collaboration.

Its Digital Ceiling framework embeds IoT solutions into building services over a single, converged IP network. It transforms unobtrusive infrastructure in ceilings across the buildings facilities into a secure and distributed architecture, with the aim to deliver intelligence, help businesses with cost savings, better management and enable organisations to capitalise on their buildings.

Cisco Middle East's Chief Technology Officer, Osama Al-Zoubi added: "Our recently launched Cisco Digital Ceiling framework is set to become the next frontier in the IoT. Digital Ceiling converges multiple building networks, lighting, heating, and cooling, IP video, IoT sensors, and much more, through a secure and intelligent network platform, thus unlocking new experiences and efficiencies for workers, lowering facilities operating costs and putting sensor data at the organisation's fingertips, so they can gain deeper insight into their environment to make better business decisions."

Cisco is a platinum sponsor of IoTX 2016, which will be held from 29-31 March at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
