Dubai became the second city globally after Huawei Consumer Group unveiled two of its latest devices, the Mate 8 smartphone and M2 tablet.

"2015 was a successful year for the Huawei Consumer Business Group here in the Middle East and we anticipate 2016 to be an even bigger one with immense growth in the region following the launch of these two flagship devices," said Sandeep Saighal, vice president of Huawei Consumer Business Group.

Huawei boasts the Mate 8 smartphone has a premium edge and with its 6-inch size and 1,920 x 1,080 resolution display, the embedded features also match the bold size.

The internal core of the smartphone runs on the Kirin 950 chipset, when compared to the Kirin 925, CPU boosting power is up to 100%, GPU performance is increased to 125% and power efficiency is up by 70%.

Power efficiency is key to the Mate 8 design as it is equipped with a 400mAh high-density battery, which delivers enough power efficiency over two days of normal usage, plus its rapid charging technology means the phone is able to charge a day's worth of power in 30 minutes. The Mate 8 also runs Huawei's EMUI 4.0, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Elsewhere, Huawei has heightened its security platform with its embedded fingerprint security. The circular fingerprint sensor aims to improves fingerprint identification by 10% and it increases the unlock speed by 100%.

The Chinese telecommunications manufacturer has invested $98m over three years to develop a proprietary image sensor processor for faster focusing, higher clarity and accurate colour shading. It also features a 16-megapixel camera on the back on the device along with a dual-LED flash, and an 8-megapixel front camera embedded with a beauty algorithm for picturing selfies.

The Mate 8 is available in in four colours: champagne gold, moonlight silver, space grey and mocha brown.

Saighal said: "The Mate 8 is the ultimate high-end smartphone designed for the professional, striking the perfect balance between high performance and long battery life. And when designing the M2, we equipped it with an impeccable sound system to take the user's experience to the next level. Both of these devices reflect Huawei's continued dedication to bringing the latest innovation and style to our consumers.''

Huawei has partnered with audio manufacturer Harman Kardon to provide its latest 10-inch M2 tablet with Clari-Fi audio restoration technology to recover lost details of compressed digital music, offering M2 owners a clearer and crisper sound.
