AMD names Darren Grasby as EMEA president
Appointment strengthens focus on key regions in supporting deeper customer and partner relationships
Chip designer AMD has announced that corporate vice president, Worldwide Component Channel, Darren Grasby, has been appointed to the newly-created position of president of AMD Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
In his role, Grasby is responsible for driving AMD's global channel and regional OEM sales organisation while building better and closer alliances with key customers and influencers and driving the platform message into the component channel.
"EMEA is a key region with a broad set of important customers, partners and markets for AMD. Darren is a proven leader who is ideally suited to drive deeper customer, partner, and stakeholder relationships across EMEA as a part of helping AMD accomplish our long-term business goals," said Dr Lisa Su, president and CEO at AMD.
"Over the past eight years Darren has proven to be an effective and results-driven leader. This new role will allow him to broaden his influence and reach in supporting AMD's customers, partners and employees while also promoting and enhancing our regional reputation and prominence as an innovative technology pioneer," Su added.
Remarking on his appointment, Grasby said: "I am honoured to take on this role, particularly as it allows me to promote AMD's technology leadership and highlight the innovation that is central to AMD's business philosophy across a broad geographic region."
Grasby added: "At our core, AMD is focused on building great products to the benefit of our partners and customers. EMEA is widely renowned as a stronghold of opportunity and I'm excited to expand our pipeline for success across the region."
Having been with AMD since 2007 and based in UK, Grasby previously served as corporate vice president, Sales and Marketing for EMEA region. Prior to that, he held the position of corporate vice president of EMEA Channel and SMB Management at AMD leading an organisation that covered Europe and emerging regions, including the Middle East and Russia.
Grasby has been in the high-tech industry for over 20 years, with more than 16 years of experience focused on PC/peripheral manufacturing facilities across the globe.
