The General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA) has unveiled ‘Coverage’, its latest major protect, at GITEX Technology Week. Coverage is described as a smart and innovative system developed by TRA for field scanning, testing, measuring and analysing the performance of operators’ networks, as well as boosting user experience.

H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, UAE TRA Director General, said: “TRA believes that customer satisfaction is a substantial station in its journey towards leadership and development, and strives to achieve customer happiness. Coverage serves our strategic vision as it contributes effectively in protecting subscribers and elevating service levels through enhancing the telecommunications services’ quality in UAE, in addition to tackling of issues and damages promptly. This project also highlights TRA’s vision for the telecommunication sector in UAE and its willingness to co-operate with operators at all levels to provide the best for the sector.”

Coverage uses a ‘smart’ technology system that performs a field scan to test, measure and analyse the quality of the operators’ networks in the country, in addition to simulating the user experience. Then, the smart system gets installed in a tailor-made car.

After completion of scanning, the system transmits the data that has been collected and displays it in the ‘Coverage Room’ constructed by the TRA especially for this purpose. Inside the Coverage Room, data analysis, follow-up and resolution take place in co-ordination with operators and in the least time possible.
