General Manager, Middle East, Africa and Turkey, Red Hat.
What is your current role in the ICT industry in the Middle East and what are your responsibilities?
I am the general manager at Red Hat for the Middle East and Africa. In this role, I am tasked with ensuring that our team provides exceptional value to clients and promotes the use of open source technologies across the region. These tasks require that I take responsibility for the leadership of Red Hat’s regional sales, technical and channel teams.
What is the best thing about your job?
Having the opportunity to spread the message and culture of open source within the region. Our work at Red Hat has enabled a large number of enterprises from a diverse set of industry verticals to innovate better and do so at lower costs and management overheads.
How innovative do you think the network industry in the Middle East is and how can it improve?
As an IT professional in the region, it is highly encouraging to see that the Middle East is able to drive innovation at a globally competitive level. Unlike other regions, organisations in the Middle East often have the freedom to innovate due to not being encumbered by legacy IT infrastructure. It is driving a higher adoption of mobile usage than in other regions of the world.
What are the upcoming trends or products in your sector?
Big Data jumps to mind - as the world becomes more and more connected with the advent of the Internet of Things, data management will be at the forefront of customers’ strategies. Handling the growing volume of data in the cloud in order to manage costs and efficiency will result in a major change in organisation’s IT strategies.
Does your company utilise virtualisation or cloud computing and if so what products/ implementations do you have?
Our company provides its customers with the products they need to enable virtualization and cloud computing. Red Hat is the largest exponent of open source technology globally and we deliver implementations across the region.
What are your out-of-office hobbies?
I share a very active and sporty life with my two young boys as we are together involved in various activities such as tennis, football and rugby.
