Students visiting GITEX Shopper 2015 will have a chance to win a AED35,000 college scholarship from Amity University Dubai, event organiser Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announced this week.

Amity's competition will be based on report cards submitted by students on each day of the event, which runs from Saturday 3 October to Saturday 10 October at the Dubai Convention Centre, World Trade Centre.

The entrant with the highest submitted marks on each of the eight days will receive a AED35,000 scholarship for the Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree course of their choice at Amity University, for a total giveaway value of AED280,000.

"Modern-day education is embedded with a variety of computers, projectors, Internet, and many more technology tools," said Trixie Loh-Mirmand, senior vice president, DWTC.

"We are delighted to partner with Amity University Dubai to provide educational opportunities for talented students and ensure that technology remains at the forefront of the future workforce throughout the region. Having all the greatest names and industry market leaders under one roof makes GITEX Shopper the best place to foster the interest of students in tech development."

Founded in India, the private non-profit Amity Education Group has grown to five universities and 13 institution campuses in India and nine international campuses.

"We are delighted to partner with the region's largest consumer electronics show for the second year," said Vajahat Hussain, CEO, Amity Education. "GITEX Shopper is the perfect platform to highlight our innovations in science and technology, as the UAE enjoys a wealth of highly competent, talented and ambitious students who would benefit from the top-class educational qualifications offered by Amity University."

The contest is open to all students who have passed Grade 11, and who visit GITEX Shopper with a special promotional student ticket, priced AED10. Candidates are required to complete an entry form at Amity's GITEX Shopper stand and submit report cards either in hardcopy or via email. Winners will be notified after the event has closed and all awards are subject to verification of marks by the admissions team at Amity University Dubai.

GITEX Shopper 2015 opens its doors at 11am on Saturday 3 October and runs every day from 11am to 11pm until the following Saturday. Tickets are priced at AED30 per person, AED10 for students, and entry is free for children below the age of five.
