Mobily is providing free wireless internet services to Hajj pilgrims in Mecca for the ninth year running.

The telecom operator has expanded its WiFi coverage in new areas including Mena, Arafat and Muzdelifa, and now offers services to over 1,500 locations.

Pilgrims can access the network by opening a mobile browser connecting to the Mobily network, and registering their mobile number.

Engineer Mezyad bin Nasser Al Harbi, chief technology officer at Mobily, said: "Mobily seeks to provide internet services through wifi technology free of charge to reinforce the positive image of the Kingdom to all pilgrims. This service contributes in enabling pilgrims, and those who serve them, such as government and private entities and media, to enjoy internet services in Meshaer, finish work and send their impressions second by second."

The operator also said that all of its branches in the central area around the Holy Mosque and King Abdullah International Airport will be open around the clock to provide a full range of services for pilgrims from issuing pre- and post-paid sim cards, as well as Phone Credit vouchers and ‘Connect' services to access the internet as part of Mobily's exceptional preparation for this year's Hajj season.
