Apple users face issues over iOS 9 update
Download errors likely attributable to server load and not a pulled release, fan-site says
Apple device users have encountered sporadic issues in updating to iOS 9, according to a report yesterday from all-things-Cupertino site, 9to5Mac.
Despite a bug in watchOS 2 that Apple announced would delay its release, the company went ahead with the iOS rollout. But some users received a Software Update Error that read, "An error occurred downloading iOS 9."
The fault reportedly extended to Apple's Golden Master (GM) version of iOS 9, which is the alternate used by developers and authorised testers. The author of the 9to5Mac report was one such user, but he resolved the issue by rebooting his phone and going through Software Update in Settings. Other users, but not all, met with some success when trying to update through iTunes.
The issue is likely one with Apple's servers and unanticipated load, rather than a software fault or an unannounced decision by Apple to delay the release. Apple users are advised to give the company time to adjust to the volume of update requests.
