How did you come to be in your current role?

I was headhunted by a recruiter for my first role with Infor Middle East. Then as the company expanded its presence and operations in Middle East, I was promoted to run the sales operations in the region.

What is your management philosophy?

My philosophy is to focus on driving results through my team by making them successful. I focus on leading and not managing people, developing strategy driven by objectives, and managing the change.

What was your first computer, and when did you first use it?

I started with Atari and then bought the first IBM PC back in 1984.

What is your greatest achievement?

It’s almost impossible to pinpoint one event from the past that can be considered the definitive greatest accomplishment as many things, whether personal or professional, can be defined as great achievements. I would say it is the collection of different experiences that have brought me to where I am today.

What is your biggest mistake?

The truth is I have made mistakes along the way. Then again, who doesn’t! That being said, the one thing I have learned is that the mistakes are often less important than how you handle them. My philosophy is to learn from the mistakes and make sure that I do not repeat them.

What is your fondest memory of working in the Middle East IT industry?

My first GITEX sticks out as a key milestone in my work experience in the Middle East. It was a real eye opener to see just how diverse and enormous the IT industry is in the region and the huge opportunity it presents to organisations and people to embrace new technologies and grow their business and potential.

I look forward to being at GITEX with Infor this year — it is our second year and we plan to go big, presenting our cloud offerings and industry focused solutions.

What technology do you think will have the biggest impact on the market in 2015?

In my opinion, cloud will be one of the key technology drivers both in 2015 and beyond. More organisations will be open to adapting cloud offerings, starting with infrastructure management and moving all the way to running their critical business applications in the cloud. At Infor, we have recently introduced our Industry Cloud offering and this will be highlighted during this year’s GITEX.

What’s the best way to deal with stress?

I try to live by a very simple mantra; think positively and always believe that you can change every situation to be a positive experience and use it as a learning experience.
