Ericsson to supply management system for Qatar telecoms infrastructure Ericsson's Network Engineer Solution will provide the tools to manage Qatar's new telecom duct infrastructure, says Melander.

Qatar's Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has selected Ericsson to provide network management solutions and services to manage the new telecommunication ducts infrastructure that will be implemented in the country.

Ericsson will implement its Network Engineer Solution, which will provide the CRA with a GIS-based mapping tool to manage the new network of ducts that will be embedded in public roads. The management solution include a web client, which will enable field engineers to access data.

The Ericsson Network Engineer solution is a scalable network management system that uses geospatial technology to help efficiently plan, design, maintain and document telecommunications infrastructure. Ongoing changes to both inside and outside plant facilities can be comprehensively managed so moving pieces can be accurately tracked, from cables and ducts to racks and cards.

The new telecommunication duct infrastructure which will be established through cooperation between the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), the CRA and the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal'.
