Veeam announces Oracle integration in forthcoming Availability Suite
Explorer for Oracle offers ‘industry’s first’ transaction-level recovery of Oracle databases
Data centre specialist Veeam Software today announced Veeam Explorer for Oracle will be part of Veeam Availability Suite v9, when it becomes available later this year.
The Explorer module will offer features such as transaction-level database recovery and agentless image-based backup and recovery for Oracle ASM. Veeam has also introduced a number of additional enterprise-level enhancements for Veeam Explorers for Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint and SQL Server.
"Veeam has long offered recovery from Oracle and other popular applications via the U-AIR (Universal Application-Item Recovery) wizard," Veeam said in a statement. "Now, Veeam Explorer for Oracle provides much simpler and more powerful recovery, joining the family of Veeam Explorers already developed specifically for Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint and SQL server."
"When it comes to databases, no company is more ubiquitous than Oracle and its position as the number-one database provider to enterprises across the globe serves to underline the critical nature of the operations it supports," said Ratmir Timashev, CEO, Veeam.
"Enterprises cannot afford downtime and while nothing is 100% reliable, these users demand that applications and data are back online within minutes; every moment of inactivity costs money. Veeam is committed to driving innovation across the industry and providing availability for the modern data centre, which means achieving recovery time and point objectives of 15 minutes or less for critical applications and data."
