Having recently launched the Galaxy Tab A in the region, Samsung Electronics today announced that the 9.6-inch Galaxy Tab E budget variant is now available in the UAE for AED999.

The device includes a 5M AF camera and support for up to 128GB through a micro SD card that needs to be purchased separately.

Samsung is trying to position the Tab A as "the next companion to the smart classroom", citing IDC figures that suggest the education sector accounted for 10.3% of all tablets shipped to the Middle East during the first half of 2014.

"With Kids Mode activated, young learners can navigate a fun kids-friendly graphical interface that is oriented for children's control," the company said in a statement. "Kids can use their tablets to access a variety of stimulating applications that promote creative expression through music, colours, sounds, and instructive activities. Optimised for collective in-class use, the Galaxy Tab E provides students access to educational tools and webpages while teachers have all-in-one Screen Monitoring capacities to supervise the students' progress."

"The Galaxy Tab E is a high-performing and affordable tablet designed for people who multi-task, move fast and look for the best value," said Hayssam Yassine, head, IT and Mobile Samsung Gulf Electronics. "Additionally, users have the opportunity to interact with a variety of content and applications on a beautiful, portable 9.6-inch display."
